To Love A Rose

If I were to love a rose...

First, from afar I would admire its beauty.
Then draw innocently closer, out of sheer necessity.
I’d inhale the sweet perfume of its fragrance
And become one with it, in this blending of our senses.

With barely a gentle and loving touch,
I’d pluck the petals of this sweet flower
as it willingly yields to allow me entrance
to its mesmerizing source of sensuous power.

Once there, in awe and majestic splendor,
and to its blinding intensity we surrender.
Love’s passion overtakes us,
and then like lightning, precious moments flash.
There we both lay exhausted; raw energy drained.
Each silently soaked, in love’s thick rain.
