As I Awake

As I awake, I behold

a beauty like none other;

that of a bubbling and glistening forest stream.

A sound—likened to the faint sweet song of morning birds—

makes my heart race with anticipation.

A gentle touch against her body tells me she’s real.

Her soul, through the windows of her eyes,

silently speaks words of truth and promise.

When she awakens, a new day begins for me…

with the love of my life—my wife.
